1:1 iPad Implementation or The Good, Bad, and Everything Else!
Le Grand Union High School District is a Title One high school district that decided to start on a one-to-one iPad rollout in the Fall of 2011. We are now in our third year of 1:1 and all students have iPads.  There were mis-steps, but there has been a lot of growth.  This started out as a technology implementation, but it has grown into a culture change that is leading us into Common Core.  We will discuss our growth and the path to CCSS from both a classroom and administrator perspective.

Cell Phones in the Classroom
We know students have phones; they are on them constantly, so how do we develop ways to have students use their phones productively in class? No matter what people tell you, students are not as tech savvy as we think: they text, maybe tweet, Facebook and sometimes game. They do not see phones as tools for learning. For teachers, we need to utilize curriculum and develop classroom management strategies that help students to use phones productively. You will walk away with tested classroom management strategies that work along with lesson ideas and online resources that you can use with your students on their phones starting right away. We will also go over some of the legal concerns you will want to be aware of to keep your parents and administrators informed and involved in the process.

Doceri: Student Engagement and the Flipped Classroom

This session will focus on how you can use this amazing tool to easily create, and present animated and engaging lessons to your students.

Doceri combines remote computer control, annotation and access to any and all of your computer resources wirelessly through a tablet so you don’t need to run back to your computer to open up anything. The interactive ability to present and teach from anywhere in the room allows you to be engaged and stay engaged with your students the entire teaching time.  No more being anchored to the white board or computer, you have it all at your fingertips at all times.  Every student is in the front of the classroom when you teach with Doceri.

Flipping your lesson was never this easy and now you can learn how to use this amazing interface to take your lessons to the next level.  Doceri has a unique ‘time line’ feature that enables you to move your lessons both forward and backward at any speed or stroke-by-stroke.  This allows you to go back to any place and edit, change, modify or evolve your lesson at any time!  Playing back your annotations at any speed allows you to record your voice at a natural talking speed and voice over your lessons in short succinct videos.  Simple ability to combine each video segment and then share them with your students saves thousands of dollars on other lecture capturing and creation software.

In this session you will learn how to easily connect to your computer, access and control your computer, use the built in pointer system, use the timeline to edit a lesson, create and then record your lesson in both video and a multiple image pdf.  You will also learn how to take your digital lessons and make them into an animated Doceri lesson.  You don’t have to create lesson content, you already have it all on your computer.  I will also show how Doceri can take your boring PowerPoint slide shows and make them into eye catching and attention getting animated presentations.  And much more…

Electronic IEP Management and the Amendment Process using SEIS
SEIS does two very important things: tell the story of each IEP, allowing users to see at glance the details of each meeting; and make it possible for searches to gather quality data for reports, whether CASEMIS or local. To accomplish this, it is vital to manage the Electronic IEP and utilize the Amendment utility in such a way that SEIS records the steps that make up the electronic paper trail of each IEP for historical purposes, and keeps accurate current information for reporting.

Learning To Collaborate - Collaborating To Learn
Learn how to facilitate project-based learning while teaching collaboration in your classroom. All YOU need to do is provide the topic, a rubric, a deadline, and time. Students will choose their groups and make a Google Site. This site will include their check-off list of responsibilities through a Google spreadsheet, their self-set Google calendar of deadlines, their Google Doc notes of research, their 'works cited' Google doc, their body of work as a presentation through Google Presentation, their timeline of events from the topic (using TimeToast.com), and video, screen recording, or screenshot proof of how they collaborated throughout the project ie: picture of text messages, screenshots of emails, and/or recording of their Skype/Google+ meetings. This culminating project allows for creativity and the opportunity for strong collaboration.

Video in Your Classroom
With Common Core as a major part of our course curriculum, it's time to start integrating mixed media as a component for our student assignments. The issue, with a few exceptions students do not know how to record or edit video in a professional way. The work we get is okay at best and does not come near to creating a clear visual picture. In this workshop we will discuss strategies for creating strong visual representations of our work as well as looking at equipment you can use - from free to a little expensive - in your class to create great pictures and video.
